Short Throw Brewing is the culmination of talents from owner and head brewer, Brandon Tolbert. Brandon gained notoriety during his time as head brewer at The Answer Brewpub. Brandon gained notoriety during his time as head brewer at The Answer Brewpub. In 2015, the Answer was awarded Best New Brewery for the state of Virginia with Tolbert at the helm. In Jan 2021, RateBeer announced that Short Throw was named 8th Best New Brewery in the world, 2nd Best New Brewery in the United States, and once again for Tolbert, the Best New Brewery in the state of Virginia.
