Since April 1991, the Köstritzer black beer brewery, a subsidiary of the Bitburger brewery, has emerged as of one of the most modern breweries in Thuringia. In September 1993, it was with great pride we (re-) introduced the "original Köstritzer black beer".

My favorite beer bar none. Great malt flavor that drifts across your tongue then disappears as you swallow. Gentle hops. Cleanest finish of any Schwartzbier. Drink all day without wishing you had some other beer. Comparatively, Asahi Kuronama almost as good. Never have to choose another beer while this is available.
